The title says it all, really. It was a natural continuation of the previous portrait, combined with my love of decaying statuary. In clarification, that bit being held in front of the face is part of the stone shell that used to cover the eye.

Acrylic, 2006.

I actually thought the piece in the hand was a statue-handkerchief or something. :)

This is so awesome. I especially like how you did the broken arm.

Ah :) It's really good! I love how you've done this. Most people wouldn't think of doign something like this. ^_^; It did confuse me about the bit in your hand. I just didn't understand. Umm..quick question. How do you start most of your works? Do you pencil or what? I can't figure it out.

The bit in the hand *is* confusing. Most people think it's a part of the nose or something.

Most pictures come from doodles during class or on the bus, although sometimes I have an idea already (as in all the fairytale stuff). If I get an idea that I think is kind of neat, I'll do a larger sketch and try to work out the composition and stuff. This one had quite a few of those behind it. I used to sketch things out in pencil on the canvas, but it tends to bleed through, so now I do the sketch in thinned down paint, and refine it from there. The nice thing about acrylic is that you don't have to plan too far in advance - if you find you've painted in a bit you need to be white, it's really easy just to paint over it.

It's a painting, wow, I thought that it was in another medium! It's very wonderful though. It's really nice.
